History |
||||
| The
production company and commercial enterprise is specialized in small products
for the concrete reinforcement and shuttering. It was started in Dordrecht,
the hometown of the founder of the company Mr. A. Molenaar. During that
time, 1953, he was working for the postal company as a civil servant. One
day besides his office, in Rotterdam, a construction work was being stopped
by lack of concrete distance keepers. Mr. Molenaar immediately realized
that this was a market opportunity.
He started to produce distance keepers in the basement (area ±20m2) of this parental house. Brothers-in-law and brothers helped him with the production. Total production then was 2.000 concrete distance keepers per week. In 1955 the small company moved to a larger building in the center of Dordrecht. The production and selling of concrete distance keepers then became a fulltime business. Two permanent employees did join the company. |

This production hall also became too small and then Mr. A. Molenaar moved to the harbour industrial estate in Goes. A production hall of 1400m2 was built. In this period also the first international orders came in. Early 1963 another production hall was constructed. At the end of the seventies the expansion really started. In 1979 the total production facility sized 7200m2. The same year further growth was realized by the purchase of a second area at the Albert Joachimikade. In 1986 plans were made for a complete new production facility according to the latest technical possibilities on logistics and environment. On December 9th 1988 the new facility was officially opened. The direct management of Molenaar Betonindustrie has always been in the hands of the Molenaar family. When Mr. A. Molenaar resigned in 1986 he was followed-up by his son Mr. J.P.C. Molenaar.
